Access
Applicants must submit their application before the start of the academic year they wish to enter. The application is made exclusively through the Fenix application platform. The student must attach the documents mentioned in the relevant notice and pay the relevant fee. The application period is set out in the relevant notice, which is published on the Faculty’s website.
Over 23
Those over the age of 23, or who will be over the age of 23 by December 31st of the year prior to the tests, may apply for the tests to assess their ability to attend higher education, hereinafter referred to as the Special Access Tests, provided that they meet all of the following conditions:
a) They do not have an access qualification for the desired course, with an access qualification being understood as:
1. the possession of a secondary education course or equivalent;
2. they have passed the national exams that are the entrance exams for the desired course in the year in which the application is submitted or in the two immediately preceding years.
b) Not being a national of a member state of the European Union or a family member of a Portuguese national or a national of a member state of the European Union, regardless of their nationality, (I) have been legally resident in Portugal for more than two years, uninterruptedly, on January 1st of the year in which they intend to enter higher education, as well as their children who are legally resident with them, with the time of residence for study not being relevant for this purpose; or (II) are beneficiaries, on January 1st of the year in which they intend to enter higher education, of equal rights and duties status granted under an international treaty between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are a national.
The application process for the special access tests must include the following elements:
a) Dated and signed academic and professional curriculum vitae (we suggest using the Europass CV);
b) A photocopy of the documents proving the qualifications and professional experience stated in the CV (a copy of the Certificate of Qualifications is mandatory);
c) A letter of motivation addressed to the Chairman of the Selection Board, expressing the reasons why the candidate wishes to join the course;
d) A photocopy of the certificate of residence in Portugal or proof of equal rights and duties, in the event that the candidate is not a Portuguese national or a national of a member state of the European Union;
Application fee: 60,00 €
The special entrance exams are designed to assess, in addition to the specific scientific skills for the desired course, the skills and competences in the area of communication in Portuguese and English, the capacity for initiative and cultural and relational skills.
The special entrance exams are carried out in three eliminatory stages in a single call:
a) Test designed to assess the ability to express and interpret, through a written test.
This test is based on criteria that meet the demonstration of mastery of the Portuguese language and the ability to understand a text in English.
Elimination: grade < 9.50
Weighting in the final grade: 20%
b) Test of knowledge and skills considered essential for entry and progression in the course, which can be carried out through a theoretical and/or practical test.
This test is based on criteria that meet the demonstration of specific knowledge and skills directly relevant for entry and progression in the course that the candidate intends to attend.
Eliminatory: grade < 9.50
Weighting in the final grade: 40%
The examination jury of the different schools may set minimum grades for passing the two assessment components that include the specific knowledge and skills test. For more information, see “Exam topics”.
c) Test aimed at assessing the candidate’s academic and professional curriculum and assessing their motivations, through analysis of the CV and an interview.
The curriculum assessment assesses the candidate’s background, professional experience and training, and basic academic qualifications, with their relevance to the scientific area of the course that the candidate intends to attend being valued;
The interview is intended to assess the candidate’s background and assess the motivations presented for choosing the course.
Elimination: grade < 9.50
Weighting in the final grade: 40%

International Student
Yes, the international student statute regulated by Decree-Law no. 36/2014 applies to the degree course at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
| Students of foreign nationality other than that of a Member State of the European Union and who:
have not resided legally in Portugal for more than two years without interruption, as of 1 January of the year in which they intend to enter Higher Education, as well as their children who reside legally with them, with the period of residence for study purposes not being relevant for this purpose;
are not relatives of Portuguese citizens or nationals of other European Union countries. The term “relative” is understood to mean:
the spouse of a citizen of the European Union;
the partner with whom a citizen of the European Union lives in a de facto union, established in accordance with the law, or with whom the citizen of the European Union maintains a permanent relationship duly certified by the competent authority of the Member State in which they reside;
the direct descendant under 21 years of age or who is dependent on a citizen of the European Union, as well as the spouse or partner as defined in the previous paragraph;
the direct ascendant who is dependent on a citizen of the European Union, as well as that of the spouse or partner as defined above.
are not beneficiaries, on 1 January of the year in which they intend to enter Higher Education, of a status of equal rights and duties granted under an international treaty signed between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are nationals;
do not apply for entry into Higher Education through the special access and entry regimes regulated by Decree-Law No. 393-A/99, of 2 October, amended by Decree-Law No. 272/2009, of 1 October.
| Students holding a secondary school diploma or equivalent that in their country of origin allows them to apply for Higher Education.
If the student has two or more nationalities and one of them corresponds to the nationality of a Member State, including Portugal, they cannot apply for this competition.
If you enroll in Higher Education under the International Student Statute, you will maintain your status as an international student until the end of the course you initially enroll in or transfer to, even if you are granted the status of equal rights and duties under an international treaty signed between the Portuguese State and the State of which you are a national. International students who acquire the nationality of a Member State of the European Union are exempt from this provision, and the cessation of the application of the international student status as a result of obtaining that nationality takes effect in the academic year following the date of its acquisition.

Registration
Students enrolling for the first time in the Law Degrees of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon are enrolled in mid-September, during the period defined by the Faculty of Law. DGES (Directorate-General for Higher Education), which will be published in due course.
Enrolment will take place in person via the Platform FÉNIX, at the registration support desk, located in the Study Room (Faculty Building I, on floor 2), with a group of Collaborators and current Students who will support this process.
Applications from students who entered the University of Lisbon Law School in previous academic years and who were enrolled in the previous academic year, will take place in the last week of August and the first week of September on dates to be defined, which will be published in due course.
These registrations will be made exclusively through the Fénix.
