The Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon stands out for the quality and recognised merit of its teaching staff, for the rigour and innovation of its curricula, for its insistence on a practical approach to learning, for the social, economic and political influence of the professionals it trains and for its cosmopolitan openness, with a particular focus on the Portuguese-speaking world.

The degree course offers continuous and final assessment methods, day and evening courses and specialised legal subjects (Urban Planning Law, Environmental Law, Securities Law, Information Society Law, International Trade Law, etc.).

The Faculty of Law also offers specialised and advanced training (an LL.M. in European Legal Practice, Master ‘s courses in Law and Legal Practice and Master’s courses in Law and Legal Science, PhDs and post-doctorates) and postgraduate courses in new and interdisciplinary areas, always seeking to maintain a high level of cultural and scientific training.

The Faculty also organises conferences every year on current problems or legal reforms in the pipeline; it also establishes partnerships with other Portuguese institutions, providing legal teaching at the Military Academy, the Instituto Superior Técnico and the Faculty of Letters; and it is committed to international exchange and cooperation, especially with Brazil, Portuguese-speaking African countries, various European countries, the United States of America, India and China.
