Evaluation

There are the following Evaluation methods:

  • Method A or Continuous Assessment
  • Method B or Final Assessment
  • Special method for optional curricular units

Method A or Continuous Assessment

The continuous assessment method aims to assess the student’s knowledge of the course unit, taking into account the work carried out during the course.

The elements of Continuous Assessment are: a written test; other elements, which may consist of written research or investigation work, reviews and comments on case law, solving practical hypotheses in class or as homework, preparing and carrying out trial simulations, among others.

Students who obtain a Continuous Assessment mark of 12 or more in method A pass the course. If they obtain a Continuous Assessment mark of between 8 and 11 marks, they will be admitted to the written exam, and may also be admitted to the oral exam.

Students who obtain a Continuous Assessment mark between 10 and 11 in Method A may change from Method A to Method B within 24 hours of the mark being issued.

A student who obtains a Continuous Assessment mark of between 8 and 9 in Method A will automatically change from Method A to Method B, with the possibility of cancelling the change within 24 hours.

A student who obtains a Continuous Assessment mark of less than 8 in Method A automatically moves on to Method B.

Method B or Final Assessment

The Final Assessment method is designed to assess the student’s knowledge of the course unit, taking into account the results obtained in the exams held at the end of the semester.

Students enrolled in Method B take a written exam, and if they obtain a mark between 8 and 11 they are admitted to an oral exam.

Special method for optional course units

The assessment method and respective elements for optional curricular units are the responsibility of the teacher.
