He was Pro-Rector (2008-2010) and Vice-Rector of the University of Lisbon (2010-2011).
He was a Counsellor of the National Education Council, by co-option, and Coordinator of the Higher Education Commission of the National Education Council, by election of its members (2013-2017).

At the Faculty of Law, he was, among other positions, Chairman of the Pedagogical Council, Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board, Secretary Professor of the Scientific Council and Librarian Professor.
At the University of Lisbon, he was repeatedly elected a member of the University Assembly and Senate.
